Mohamed Ndir, known as Dou, is originally from Senegal. A self-taught visual artist, he practices a multidisciplinary approach that makes him one of the most brilliant of his generation. As a painter, sculptor, engraver, and designer, he employs a wide range of techniques which, combined with socially engaged themes, shape his artistic vision. He has held several major exhibitions both in Senegal and abroad, and has participated in numerous group exhibitions and art fairs in Dakar and internationally. His works are part of prestigious private and public collections, including that of King Mohammed VI of Morocco.
“He belongs to a new generation of conceptual artists who no longer speak of ‘rootedness and openness’ like their predecessors, but rather of ‘anchoring and transcendence.’ In doing so, the artist contributes to the interpenetration of a multidimensional world where art knows no boundaries,” says Ibrahima Njaay, art columnist in Dakar.
